Question:

I have a broken windshield on my vehicle. I am wondering if we have insurance coverage for that and if so, how I would get it fixed?

Answer:

Glass claims are subject to the vehicle comprehensive deductible which for some policies can be $500. Most glass costs under $250 to replace but can be more if there is any shading, tinting, or antennae, etc in it. It could also be more for certain models of cars. What I would do is contact an auto glass repair service, like Safelite Auto Glass, and see the cost. If it is only a couple hundred over the deductible I would probably pay it. While your current rates probably wouldn’t increase, it could be considered if you decide to get a policy with a different company.
